Cash n’ Carry Direct closes in Gorey

CASH n Carry Direct in Gorey unexpectedly stopped trading last week, after a provisional liquidator was appointed to the chain opened in 2013 by Sean Bourke and John Swan

The Gorey store was locked up and in darkness last week and a notice in the window read: ‘this store has now closed for business’ and ‘by order of Ms Justice Reynolds of the High Court, Mr John Healy of Kirby Healy Charted Accountants was appointed provisional liquidator’ on Tuesday, February 5.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Healy said his role is to sell as many assets as possible, while also looking for a buyer for the business to try and save the jobs.

‘We will be holding a closing down liquidation sale in the next two weeks, so existing customers will have one final opportunity to grab a bargain,’ said Mr Healy.

Cash n Carry Direct Ltd also operated out of Tullamore, County Offaly, but it was announced last week that Cash n Carry Direct in Tullamore had closed its doors for business. The Cash n Carry Direct in Carlow ceased trading in 2016.
