Concurrent jail sentences for man already in prison
GER Connors (26), from Rosemount in Drinagh admitted a string of charges when brought from prison to face prosecution at Wexford District Court.
The accused man’s mother, sister and brother were in court as pleas of guilty were entered to charges of theft, dangerous driving and criminal damage among other matters.
The dangerous driving charge arose from a collision in McDonald’s car park on the night of June 24/25 last.
Connors was already disqualified at the time when he caused the accident.
Also considered was a ‘driveoff’, the theft of €64 worth of fuel from Wallace’s Esso in Wellingtonbridge, and criminal damage to a door in King Street.
The court heard from solicitor Tim Cummings that the defendant had been abusing drugs from a young age and suffered from mental health problems. He was already serving a 20-month sentence imposed in the Circuit Court, added Mr Cummings.
Connors was handed four month jail sentences, to be served concurrently with the existing term, for motoring offences and the theft.
A six-month sentence imposed for the criminal damage was suspended.
