Tyre slashing was a ‘moment of madness’

A 62-YEAR-OLD man who slashed the tyres on a car owned by a former house mate blamed ‘a moment of madness’ for his actions.

Unemployed defendant Eamon Smith with an address at Ozanam House in Wexford spotted the vehicle of Paul Massey parked on John Street Lower on the night of October 3.

The matter was reported to the gardaí and the culprit was identified using CCTV.

Appearing without a solicitor at the District Court, Smith said he had previously lived with Massey for four years.

Judge John Cheatle offered to strike the matter out once full compensati­on put at €260 is paid by September.
