Release from jail went to man’s head

-

A PUBLIC order offence committed by a 22-year-old Wexford man was committed shortly after he was released from custody, the District Court was told.

Defendant Ross Nolan’s address was given in court paperwork as Cloverhill Prison, Clondalkin in Dublin.

However, Judge John Cheatle learned that he was at liberty in Bride Street on May 15 last.

It was there that gardaí discovered him in a highly intoxicated state.

Solicitor Colette Culleton entered a plea of guilty on his behalf.

She reckoned that Nolan’s new found freedom after a term of imprisonment had gone to her client’s head on the date in question.

The events described were a bit of a blur to him, as she put it. The judge set a fine of €50 as he recorded the conviction for being drunk in public.
