5K FUN RUN/WALK
Curracloe 5K Fun Run/Walk takes place on Sunday, March 10, at midday. Registration takes place from 10.30 a.m. at Curracloe national school. Donations will be accepted on the day, and all funds raised go to the school funds. The date had to changed due to a clash of fixtures and the committee wish to apologise for any inconvenience.
CARDS
Weekly winners of the partners 45 in Hotel Curracloe were John Kelly and Sim Donohoe. Winners in the bingo were Katie Lacy, line Áine Furlong two lines and Cian Hanrahan the house. Cards continue every Thursday night at 9 p.m. There is an open draw. Bingo and live music takes place every Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
BIRTHDAY BOY
We send our congratulations and continued good health to former well known Postman, Matt Canning, Screen, who has turned 80 and who celebrated the occasion with a little gathering and a few drinks in Freddies on Saturday, February 9, surrounded by his family, neighbours and a few friends.
DEVELOPMENT LOTTO
Results of the Curracloe United Development lotto draw for Sunday, February 10, The numbers drawn were 4, 5, 21 and 26. There was no jackpot winner and two match-three winners who each received €75, Ann and George, Galbally, Curracloe and John Tyrell, c/o Club. The weekly draw takes place every Sunday night at 9 p.m.
FURLONGS OF THE ROADHOUSE
Texasholdem competition takes place every Monday night at 9.30 p.m. with over €1,000 in prizes. Recent winner was Pat Furlong. The Richard Furlong Pool League continues every Thursday night at 9 p.m. and the recent winner was Pat Furlong.
CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS
Congratulations to PJ Redmond, who won €96.50c in the recent split-the-pot draw. The next draw takes place on Wednesday, February 27, Many thanks to the local businesses in Curracloe and to all who continue to support the draw.
The parents’ association have organised a Clothes Collection in conjunction with the National Council for the Blind. Please bring your bags of unwanted clothing, linen, curtains, belts, handbags and shoes (paired) in plastic bags to the school on or before Wednesday, February 27, No cushions, duvets, pillows, socks or underwear please. All donations of clothing etc. will be sold in the NCBI shops nationwide, or recycled. The school will receive money per 10Kg filled bag.
Bingo session continues every Sunday in the school hall from 3.30 p.m to 5 p.m. Teams from fifth and sixth classes took part in the recent Credit Union table quiz.
COMMUNITY GAMES
The 2019 season is about to get under way and there is a very busy programme ahead for the May Festival. The local committee are seeking entries for the following events: handball, swimming, art, handwriting, soccer, debating, projects, table quiz and all the stage events, music, singing, dancing, culture corner, drama etc.
All schools in the area have been notified of these events, but if there are children out there (who are attending secondary schools) and who would like to compete in any of the above) please contact Anne at 086 1980775 or Adrian at 085 8177210. You must get in touch within the next week or so, to be in with a chance of representing your area in your chosen event.
SHELS FIGHT NIGHT
The Shelmalier Fight Night will take place in Hotel Curracloe on Saturday, March 9. The boxers have been in serious training since Christmas and a great night’s sport is guaranteed. Tickets available from Hotel Curracloe, The Porterhouse, and members of the committee. Doors open at 8 p.m.
ARTRAMON OPEN DAY
Reserve Sunday, May 19 for the annual Open Day at Artraman House and gardens.There will be lots of good music and refreshments will be on offer too. More details to follow at a later date.

Wexford Water Safety’s AGM will take place on March 2 at 7.30 p.m. in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford.
