Pierce tuning up for Corona concert

-

WITH concerts off the agenda for the time being at least, musicians are having to adapt to get their music to a public who perhaps need it more than ever. That’s exactly what Wexford’s own Pierce Turner has done with his ‘Corona Concerts’ series which has proved a hit on Facebook in recent weeks.

The veteran Wexford musician has been attempting to bring some of the buzz of a live show to his fans from the comfort of his own sitting room and has been trying some new things along the way. With concert number six set to take place this Saturday night at 8 p.m., Pierce says he’s been amazed to find that an average of 24,000 people will have been reached by the time he plays his last note.

‘Obviously Facebook Live is global,’ he said. ‘But it’s amazing how many Irish people we are reaching who had not been to my gigs for years. For my last show, I did the whole of the album, “Now Is Heaven”, and it was such an interesting experience, I could never have done something like that in a club. I wanted to, but didn’t. These concerts are really allowing me to experiment.’

While the show is free to those who don’t wish to pay, virtual tickets to support the artist start at €10 and are available www.pierceturner.com at the store section.
