Man charged with rape
A 52-YEAR-OLD Wexford man stood charged with nine charges of raping a female when he appeared at Wexford Disctrict Court. Judge Brian O’Shea learned that the DPP’s directions were that the case should be heard at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
Garda Sergeant Gary Rayner gave sworn evidence that he had served the book of evidence in the case on the defendant. The sergeant also confirmed that the complainant in the matter was no relative of the accused.
The accused man was represented by solicitor Colette Culleton who sought reporting restrictions in the matter. The defendant left court after signing his bail bond.
