-

County Wexford Youth Film Project (CWYFP) have announced a series of workshops which are free to teenagers across County Wexford.

Participants are welcome to join all or just one of the workshops which cover a range of disciplines from script writing to camera skills and editing. The only tool you need is your smartphone.

For those who would like to learn how to film and edit using their mobile phone, CWYFP are hosting a DIY Intro to filmmaking workshop which starts on Saturday, January 23, running from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for four weeks. Participants will learn filmmaking techniques to create their own short film and how to use free editing apps to shape their films whether using an android or apple smartphone. Each workshop is packed with tips and tricks to help create a polished and engaging short film. No previous experience is necessary.

There will also be a scriptwriting workshop for all aspiring writers. This will start on Saturday, January 23, from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. running for three weeks. Participants will learn the fundamentals of scriptwriting and create their own three-minute screenplay. At the end of the workshop a script will be chosen to be developed into a short film with an open casting call. For those that just want to chat about movies The Friday Film Club returns on Friday, January 22, from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m. Each week there will be a different theme.

The club will start with exploring the work of a particular film director. Participants can pick in advance which director they would like discussed.

All workshops will be delivered on Zoom and are hosted by Therese Dalton and Aoife Molloy. Traditionally the workshops are facilitated at St. Michael’s Theatre and will return to the theatre when government guidelines suggest this is safe. In the meantime participants can join online. Spaces are limited and can be booked by contacting Therese at wexfordyouthfilm@gmail.com

These workshops are funded by The Arts Department of Wexford County Council and are free to all teenagers across County Wexford.
