CHURCH NEWS

WORK AT BARNTOWN CHURCH GROUNDS: From time to time the parish is evaluated from the perspective of health and safety. Risk assessment is carried out and where possible dangers are minimised or eliminated. One area which has surfaced is the trees that overhang the graveyard and the car park. Storms in recent years have meant action has already had to be taken.

In light of this, trees will need to be removed and replaced with hedging. A costly business, it will change the appearance of the area greatly and will mean a radical alternation to the appearance of the grounds. It will take getting used to, but it will also expose the church itself for wider viewing, most especially at nighttime since it is so well light up.

With school closed at present and with the area needing to be sealed off for the operation, work will commence on January 18. Tree felling – and disposal – is a skilled job. It’s also one that elicits emotions and signifies very visible change. Your understanding and cooperation is sought now

as we carry out this onerous but necessary task.

WEEKLY MASS: Sunday morning Mass continues to be streamed live from 11.15 a.m. on the Barntown Heritage Group Facebook page.
