How changing your Brainwave patterns can reduce stress
MANAGING stress and anxiety is more important now than ever before. Stress and the feeling of anxiousness is for many people just an everyday part of life. Your body’s response to stress is designed to be temporary and infrequent. Short bursts of stress from time to time can increase brain function. However, chronic stress can lead to depression and have a dramatic impact on your brainwaves.
Your brain produces 5 types of brainwaves which are electrical impulses between neurons that communicate actions, emotions, and ideas. The different brainwave states are known as alpha, beta, delta, gamma and theta.
Alpha is associated with a sense of calm and peacefulness. The increased production of alpha brainwaves can reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
Simple ways to increase healthy alpha brainwave states:
1. Meditation - even a few minutes a day can boost alpha brainwaves
2. Block blue light - blue light ( from LED lights and electronic screens ) can sabotage your sleep and stress your brain. This light can be adjusted to orange light on devices.
3. Spend time out in nature.
4. Practice Polyvagal breathing ( can be found on YouTube )
5. Brain Entrainment with binaural beats and Sound Therapy - helps to tune up your brain and align it to there right wavelength and bring you into a balanced homeostatic state.
