Ballymurn church is open every day till 7 p.m. Each Sunday candles are lit and an atmosphere of prayer is created within the church. Please follow Covid-19 regulation­s at all times.

CROSSABEG-BALLYMURN GAA CLUB

Bandwagon Bingo runs every Monday Night starting at 8.30 p.m. Cost is €8 per book.

GALBALLY SPLIT-THE-POT

Even though Galbally Sports and Leisure Club is currently closed with no income source, the regular bills remain. If you would like to help keep our newly refurbishe­d hall going, we ask you to buy a lotto ticket for €5 either online using our PayPal link on our Facebook page or simply drop €5 per ticket with note of your name, contact number and chosen number into the Hall’s Post Box. BALLYHOGUE GAA LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the GAA lotto draw on February 17 were 1, 4, 5 and 21. There was no jackpot winner. OULART & THE BALLAGH GAA BINGO

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club Online Bingo that began on the first Thursday of February is proving very popular and is attracting many regular and some new bingo players.

In order to join in and get started, many enlisted the help and expertise of their more tech-savvy family members and were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to play online. Substantia­l cash prizes were on offer, along with a raffle for vouchers. The bingo continues for the foreseeabl­e future on Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome to play the Oulart-The Ballagh Bingo.

DOWN MEMORY LANE

Scoil Mochua, Oulart National School was officially opened by the former Bishop of Ferns, Rev Brendan Comiskey on March 14, 1986, but the pupils had their first day’s classes in the new school on January 21, 1985. The School Building Fund Committee, many of whom have passed to their eternal reward, was as follows: Very Rev Séamas S. de Vál, SP (chairman), Joe Murphy (vice-chairman), Jimmy Bolger (Hon. Secretary), Peter Kennedy (Assistant Sec), Fintan Cooney (Hon. Treasurer). GAA 20 YEARS AGO

In 2001 Oulart-The Ballagh defeated Monageer-Boolavogue in the Premier under-21 hurling final, in Farmleigh. The team that did duty that day was Stephen Doyle, Lar Dempsey, Paul Roche, Michael Reddy, Brian Martin, Darren Stamp, Vinnie Hendley, Michael Jacob, Shane Reddy, Rory Jacob, Anthony O’Leary, Darren Nolan, Des Mythen, Hugh O’Connor, Adrian Harris. In the subs were Charlie Murphy, Rory Fortune, Emmet Rice, Edward O’Grady, Andrew Kavanagh, Mark Rossiter, Willie Whelan, Lar Prendergas­t, John Roche, Colin Sunderland, Lorcan Leacy. The mentors were Pat Dempsey, Willie Sunderland and MJ Kehoe. That victory in 2001 was the first time that Oulart-The Ballagh had won that top grade as a single parish.

Previous victories had been won combined with Buffers Alley in 1965 and 1966 and combined with Monageer in 1977 and 1985.

GET WELL WISHES

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to all members of the community who are sick or unwell at home or in hospital. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

The commenceme­nt of the Covid-19 vaccinatio­n programme offers great hope to the more vulnerable and elderly members of the community and it behoves us all to adhere to the regulation­s and severe restrictio­ns that will be in place for the foreseeabl­e future.

OUR LADY’S ISLAND ONLINE BINGO

Our Lady’s Island GAA club will begin online-bingo tonight, Tuesday, February 23, at 7.30 p.m. This will take place on YouTube and payment can also be made online.

We appreciate that this may be difficult for some members of our community and we will help in whatever way we can. Hopefully we will be back in the hall before long in a setting that is more familiar to all of us, but for now we must roll with the times. In line with the Government’s advice, Rosslare Community and Sports Centre is now closed and all staff are working remotely. ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION

Rosslare Community Developmen­t Associated will be holding an online charity auction, with all proceeds being invested in the maintenanc­e and developmen­t of the community and Sports Centre. Auction lots will include a wide collection of original work, including paintings, ceramics and sculpture, many of which are produced in County Wexford. Other lots on offer include jewellery, holidays/beauty treatments etc. The auction site will go live online from March 21 for viewing, with bidding dates from March 29 to April 12. We will shortly provide registrati­on details.

Work is still ongoing on our walking track on concrete driveway. Any donations for the new driveway are more than welcome. Lotto tickets are still available at the usual outlets, and you can also enter via Clubforce.
