Positive signs as action resumes in Enniscorthy

-

WITH SPRING in the air, everything looks that bit brighter in life.

And with action getting back under way this week at Enniscorthy, and with the Prestigious Future Champion Unraced Stake due to start on March 15, racing will be in top gear very quickly.

Hopefully patrons will be able to attend before the finish of this important stake.

There was good success during last Thursday morning’s meeting at Waterford, with no less than five Co. Wexford winners.

Race one got things rolling fast as the Harry Seery-owned Woodhaven Farmer broke well and led everywhere to come home a snug winner by two lengths in a time of 29.70 -0.20 slow.

Race four saw another trap to line winner in Clougheast Lass, owned by John White and trained by Joe Anglim.

Lass was recording her eighth career win when racing home a clear two lengths ahead of the field in a time of 29.67 -0.20 slow.

In race five, owner Elaine Kehoe saw her Tomahurra Lucky show great battling qualities after getting the better of Remote Support by a neck in 29.62 -0.20 slow to record a sixth career victory. The trainer was Donal Kehoe.

In races seven and eight, owner Eleanor Turner (Enniscorthy) enjoyed a nice double.

Her Bob The Cooper raced up with the pace most of the way before taking control to go on to score nicely by four lengths in a time of 29.54 -0.20 slow.

Then her Afternoon Beauty, who is in the form of her life, recorded a fast split to lead and ran on well to record her eleventh career win.

Beauty is steadily moving up the grades and so far she seems a bit ahead of the grade. Her time of 29.37 -0.20 slow is her best yet, and who knows how far she can go as she has won four of her last five starts.

On Tuesday night, race twelve was a good A1/2, and the Anton Butler-trained Hollylake Curly recorded his ninth career win.

Breaking well to lead, he ran on strongly in the heavy going to emerge a snug winner in a time of 29.96 -1.0 slow for the Sorry About The Dog syndicate.
