OULART & THE BALLAGH BEREAVEMENT

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of the late Laurence (Larry) Leacy, Killisk, The Ballagh, who passed to his eternal reward in Beaumount Hospital on Monday, March 1.

Larry, who was in his late eighties, was seriously injured in a road traffic accident near his home on February 22 and had been airlifted to hospital from Oulart-The Ballagh GAA pitch.

Due to government restrictions a private funeral took place on Friday, March 5. The late Mr Leacy will be sadly missed by Tommy and Theresa Atkinson and family, relatives and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

CONGRATULATIONS

Well done to Oulart-The Ballagh’s senior hurler, Garrett Sinnott, who was selected as full-forward on the Wexford Club Hurling ‘Team of the Year’, last week.

Garrett was one of the nine local hurlers who were nominated for an award and he beat off strong competition from star players Conor McDonald, Podge Doran, Andrew Kenny and Mikie Dwyer to make the number 14 spot. Garrett had a brilliant year in the 2020 championship and fully deserved the accolade.

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to parishioners who are sick at home or in hospital. The speedy roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccines will be particularly welcomed by the elderly and more vulnerable members of the community, their families and carers. In the meantime, and for the foreseeable future, it is vitally important that all the guidelines and restrictions are adhered to.

MIND YOURSELF

Many people are finding all of the changes to our lives as a result of Covid-19 upsetting and difficult to deal with. The HSE suggests that having a healthy daily routine is vitally important. This means eating well, physical activity and exercise, regular sleep habits and doing the things that you enjoy such as reading or being creative.

If you find yourself becoming overwhelmed by the constant news updates set times and limits for news bulletins and stay in contact with family or friends. Most importantly, notice and acknowledge good things that happen every day.

LOCAL NOTES

The purpose of the Notes is to keep locals informed of happenings in the parish area and this can only be achieved successfully with your permission and co-operation. Clubs, organisations and individuals who want coverage of their activities and successes etc are reminded that
