ST PATRICK’S DAY VIRTUAL 5K

Bannow-Ballymitty Ladies’ Football Club are bringing to you the St Patrick’s’s Day Virtual 5K run/walk in a little over two weeks time On the day dress up and wear green and post your photos and videos and tag Bannow-Ballymitty Ladies’ Football Club.

We have a €40 voucher sponsored by the Rolling Bean as the prize for the best video/photo on the day so come on everyone and make a great effort.

GRANTSTOWN COMMUNITY NOTES

Grantstown is still a hive of activity with the new heating systems up and running in some of the residentia­l houses. A huge thankyou to the members of Grantstown staff who have given up precious evening and family time to ensure that the residents return to a well cleaned and sanitised home working out of hours, they’re work is very much appreciate­d.

We are still missing the sounds of lively chatter, laughterec­hoing the corridors of the day care centre every day. We hope our day care clients are keeping well and we are keeping in touch with you all by telephone, however, if you ever feel the need a chat or a friendly catch up, please do not hesitate to call us any time at 051 561016 as someone will always be available for a natter. We understand that these unpreceden­ted times can be challengin­g in many ways, so if you have any concerns at all we are here to listen.

JOB VACANCY – We currently have vacancies for different positions available on our CE Scheme – Environmen­tal worker based in the village of Carrig-on-Bannow. Laundry Worker, Kitchen Assistant, carer, Driver. If you are in receipt of a social welfare payment or unemployed for over 12 months, you may eligible for a CE Scheme.

SENIOR ALERT ALARM SYSTEM – This alarm system is designed to help elderly people live securely in their own homes with confidence, independen­ce and peace of mind. The alarm or pendant which can be worn as a wrist bracelet or around the neck

is completely free for the first year and a small yearly monitoring fee will apply after that. We here at Grantstown Day-care centre can apply for the alarm for you. If you or someone you know in the community could benefit from having one of these alarms, please phone us at 051 561016.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Grantstown are gaining new customers every week for our meals on wheels service, we hope our clients are enjoying the meals which are delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is very easy to avail of a 2-course meal which includes nutritious main course and a delicious desert, all for a very affordable cost. MASS ONLINE

Mass for Carrig-on-Bannow church will be online on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. on churchserv­ices.tv then county Wexford then Carrig-on-Bannow. There is Mass also at 10 a.m. Tuesday to Friday.

OUR PARISH JOURNAL

We regret to inform you that there will be no parish journal for this year. Due to the covid restrictio­ns it is difficult to get photos, articles etc or even meet but we will hopefully be back in print in 2022. Please keep you pictures and anything you would like to put in the journal for next year.

CLONARD LADIES’ FOOTBALL CLUB

Clonard Volunteers Ladies GFC would like to ask members, family, friends, and supporters to help the club to Level the Playing Field and raise much needed funds/equipment for our growing busy club.

Lidl has brought Serious Support to the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Associatio­n and its members on a local and national level and now have launched a new initiative called Level the Playing Field which can help clubs raise funds of up to €5,000 per club/receive sets of jerseys.

This can be done in four easy steps for anyone that shops in Lidl: Download/Open the Lidl Plus app and tap ‘Start Collecting’. Follow the on screen prompts to select your club. Spend over €30 in store and scan your Lidl Plus card to earn a stamp (over €60 = two stamps, over €90 = three stamps, etc) Collect six stamps and submit your completed stamp card by Sunday, April 11, your continued support is always appreciate­d.

Clon Vols management and coaches have been busy behind the scenes eagerly awaiting to get back out on the pitch when it is safe to do so, watch out for our new Gaelic4Gir­ls programme which hopefully will commence when we get the go ahead to train again.

CHURCH NEWS

Due to the ongoing Level 5 Restrictio­ns, there will be no Public Masses in the parish. Mass is

available on the Parish Radio Station 92.9FM and the Parish Facebook page at the following times: Monday to Friday 10 a.m., Saturday 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. The church is open daily as follows: Monday to Saturday 10.45 a.m. 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. 4.30 p.m. There will be no Adoration at this time, but Private Prayer and Devotion can be done by praying privately in front of the Tabernacle. Baptisms are suspended till further notice.

WEEKLY PARISH ENVELOPES – The weekly Parish Envelopes for 2021/2022 are now available at the back of the church. Please pick the box number that you currently have and continue with that same number, as it will tally with the Parish System. Your current number is on your current envelopes.

If you wish to be a New Contributo­r please take a box number with ‘New Member’ on the label and then complete one of the New Members forms. You can place the new member form in the letter box, the letter box is located between the double doors of the church on the Wexford Park side. Your support is greatly appreciate­d.

TRÓCAIRE BOXES – Trócaire turns the compassion of the Irish people into life-changing support for some of the world’s poorest people. Trócaire works in partnershi­p with communitie­s in over 20 countries to relieve poverty and tackle injustice. They do this with thanks to the support of people all over Ireland. This year more than ever your support is needed. Trócaire boxes are available at the church entrances.

MASS INTENTIONS – If you would like to have an intention remembered at Mass please put the details in an envelope and place it in the letter box. The letter box will be checked daily when the office is closed. You can also place weekly envelopes in the letter box. The letter box is located between the church double doors on the Wexford Park side beside the office.

ROSSLARE HARBOUR ST MARY’S GAA

The lotto results for March 2 are 7, 12, 14 and 18. There was no jackpot winner this week. One match-three winner, Samantha Scallan. The next draw will take place on March 9 with a jackpot of €15,000. Lotto tickets are still available and you can also enter via Clubforce. ARK DANIA

Another DFDS ship will be arriving in Rosslare Europort on April 1. The Ark Dania will sail between Dunkerque and Rosslare and will operate two x return sailings per week in addition to the three existing ships. More good news for Rosslare Eurport.

TAGHMONCAM­ROSS TAGHMON ATHLETIC CLUB

The club would like to let everyone know that we usually hold our AGM around now, but due to the current household and physical distancing restrictio­ns in place, holding face to face meetings is not an option. Therefore, we have taken the decision to defer our AGM and wish to advise our members that all officers and committee members remain in place until government guidelines allow group gatherings in a socially distanced way, and we can actually meet for the AGM. In the meantime, keep safe.
