WHEELS FOR SARAH-LOUISE

The Oulart Hill Bar will host a Big Bingo Night, at 7pm, on Sunday 28th April, in aid of Sarah-Louise Fortune, to help purchase a new Wheelchair-Accessible Bus that is suitable for her wheelchair needs. All books will cost €10 and there will be a special sheet, on the night.

There will be great prize-money, plus a raffle, with a night of fun guaranteed. All support would be greatly appreciate­d and would mean the world to Sarah-Louise.

There is also a Facebook page called “New Wheels for Sarah-Louise” where you can read Sarah-Louis’s story and you can also find her GOFUND ME link.

Any donation, no matter how small, would be gratefully accepted.

SLANEY FESTIVAL “FÉILE” 2024

Congratula­tions to Oulart-The Ballagh Under 15 Camogie team on winning the Division 1 title recently. Playing on their home pitch, the girls from Oulart-The Ballagh won their semi-final and final by a single point.

The team was captained by Caoimhe Moore who was presented with the Slaney Trophy by Kathleen Kehoe (Assistant Treasurer Wexford Camogie). They will represent Wexford at the National Féile in June. Congratula­tions to team manager Hughie O’Connor, selectors Philip Rossiter, Fiona Dunne, Margaret Leacy, Brendan Pettitt and Deirdre Byrne (First Aid).

RÓISÍN SINGS FOR GILBERT

Congratula­tions to Oulart-born Róisín O’ Grady, renowned soprano, now living in Co. Waterford, who had the pleasure and privilege of singing at the special event in Waterford City when singer-songwriter, Gilbert O’Sullivan was presented with the Freedom of Waterford City at the end of March. Róisín sang Gilbert’s own “Alone Again”, “Nothing Rhymed” and “What’s in a kiss”.

STRICTLY CLUB DANCING CHAMPIONS

Congratula­tions to Niall Nimmo and Eleanor Hammel who danced to “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman to win Oulart-The Ballagh’s Strictly Club Dancing on Easter Saturday night in Clayton White’s Hotel.

Of the starting eleven couples, the following five couples advanced to the final dance-off -Niall and Eleanor, Peter and Seanon, Miria and Darryl, Patrick and Jackie and Niamh and Cathal. All the dancers deserve to be congratula­ted for their outstandin­g performanc­es that were greatly enjoyed and admired by the huge attendance.

The whole event was an outstandin­g success, well organised and executed, while Oulart-The Ballagh’s own “Ant & Dec” Chris Parle and Tomás Dunne were comperes par excellence. The GAA club benefitted to the tune of more than €100,000, thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the dancers and their supporting teams. That money will be wellspent on developing and maintainin­g the facilities that benefit the whole community. Míle buíochas do chách!

HOPE & DREAM WALK

Well done to Catherine Murphy, her daughters Emma and Katie, her sons Gary and Shaun who participat­ed in the Hope & Dream Walk/Run last Sunday, in aid of the Hope Centre.

They raised over €4,500 for that very worthy cause and they really appreciate all the support they received. Well done also to the members of Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team, of which Katie is a member, who undertook the run, in solidarity with the family. Thanks also to everyone who donated.

TRACKS & TRAILS ON RTE

GAA Analyst and former Wexford Camogie star, Ursula Jacob will feature on the popular RTE I programme “Tracks & Trails” on Friday 19th April, beginning at 7.30pm. She will be shown undertakin­g a Walk, in a Munster County, and will meet interestin­g guests along the way.

WEXFORD CAMOGIE

Best of luck to team-manager, Colin Sunderland and the Wexford senior camogie team, in the Division 1 B, League Final, next Saturday against Dublin. At the time of writing the venue has not been announced. The Oulart-The Ballagh players involved are Ciara Storey, Miria O’Dowd, Aideen Brennan, Shelley Kehoe, Anais Curran and Katie Roche.

MODEL COUNTY TICKETS

The annual Club & County Draw 2024, organised by Wexford GAA, will take place in April (1st Draw) and May (2nd & 3rd Draws). There is a prize find of €100,000. All the GAA clubs in Wexford benefit from the draw and by buying your ticket from an Oulart-The Ballagh source you help your local club. Contact any club officer if you want a ticket. LEINSTER SCÓR SEMI-FINAL

Last Saturday, Oulart Community Centre was the venue for the Leinster semi-final of the Scór Sinsir (Adult Scór) competitio­n, featuring competitor­s from seven of the twelve Leinster counties. County Scór champions, with their families and supporters from Wexford, Wicklow, Carlow, Dublin, Meath, Kilkenny and Kildare were in Oulart performing in Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Instrument­al Music, Novelty Act, Figure Dancing and Set Dancing, with the winners going forward to the Leinster Final, in Westmeath on 21st April.
