TAGHMON HISTORY SOCIETY

Calendars - We are now searching for photos for our 2025 Calendar. We only need the photograph for a couple of days, to scan and check, and it will be returned to you in the same condition. We will soon be closing for 2025 Calendar so if there is a photo you would like included, please contact us by end of April.

Our Photobook ‘Taghmon Through the Years’ is still on sale at €25. A fabulous keepsake, or wonderful gift for friends visiting. We would like to remind you to pick up our Journal, available to purchase at €20 from all usual outlets and History Society Members

Dancing at Camross - Our May dance for this Centenary Year is on Friday 3rd May, with Music by the fabulous Michael Collins Band. Admission is €10 including The Tea. Dancing 9pm till late. Time to get your dancing shoes on! Don’t miss out on our special night.

Centenary Concert - On Saturday 18th May the outstandin­g Folk/Ballad Wexford band Green Road will perform in Camross Hall. €25 per ticket (plus Booking Charge) starting at 8.30 pm (Doors open 7.30pm). INDOOR MARKET

The next Indoor market in the TAG Centre Taghmon Y35C2DE is on Saturday 13th April. Time 11am - 4pm Y35C2DE and the second Saturday of every month. Come along and have a look. A fantastic array of Arts, Crafts, Woodcraft, Baking, clothes, and lots more. Taghmon Action Group Bingo continues on Tuesday evening in TAG Y35C2DE Doors Open 7 p.m. Starts at 7.30 p.m. Why not try your luck at Find the Joker and TAG split-the-pot available to purchase before and after bingo. Tea or coffee and Snacks available to purchase too.

Last weeks winner of Split the Pot was Darragh Kelly winning €517, and this week’s winner was D. Cardiff with a whopping €507.

BBCT COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to all the boys & girls who took part in Art & handwritin­g, the following placed in the county event, Tristan Butler, Eimear O Connor, Faye Crosbie, Darragh O Hanlon, Ella Rae Foley, Sophie Redmon, Donnacha Barry, Ruby Bennett & Izzy Kilkenny.

The Indoor Soccer quarter final is fixed for Friday the 19th April against Graiguecul­len (Carlow) in the Mercy Secondary school @ 7.30 all support welcome.

Good luck to all swimmers competing in the county event in Enniscorth­y on the 14th of April at 9.30

Dates For The Diary - Registrati­on is still open for Handball, will take place in Taghmon Handball Alley on Saturday the 20th of April at 5.30 pm all support welcomed. Table Quiz takes place on the 11th of April in Bree community Centre registrati­on 6.30, start 7pm.

U14 Gymnastics is being held in Enniscorth­y on 21st April at 10.30am.

Athletics track, ball throw, discus, long jump, long puck and shot putt takes place in Taghmon community Centre on Wednesday the 24th of April, registrati­on 5.30pm. County competitio­n takes place in Enniscorth­y on 22nd June.

Talent is on in Bree also on 11th May, talent covers solo & group music, solo & group, singing, dance and solo recitation.

TAGHMON ATHLETIC CLUB NEWS

The sun was shining on a glorious Easter Monday for the 45th Annual Open Track & Field event in St. Senan’s Athletic Club, Taghmon Athletics Club was well represente­d with Izzy Aspel 1st in the U15s 100m and 1st in the U16 high jump and shot putt. Kayleigh Butler was 1st in 100m heats and 3rd in the final. She was 2nd on a very closely fought battle over 700m, 4th in the long jump & took part in the javelin. Tatum Claughan took part in the U13 boys 100m, long jump and short putt, put in a great performanc­e. Ava O Sullivan qualified for the 80m finals & took part in the 300m. Katie Rose Mullins ran both 80m & 300m. Both girls ran good runs in the U11 events, and finally Alannah Butler was on fire today and was 3rd in the 80m heat and 6th in the finals, she was 4th but a very close 3rd in the 300m run.

DATES FOR THE DIARY - Taghmon Athletics Club are happy to announce we are holding a come and try event, open to all juveniles aged 6 and older. Taghmon Community Centre, Wednesday April 10th at 6.30pm, Will include running, hurdles, javelin, long jump, shot putt, discus and much more. All coaches are fully qualified and registered members of AAI.

Spring into Summer Fitness program starting in April. Community Games Athletics event takes place on the 24th of April registrati­on at 5.30pm. A great opportunit­y for any member within the club and to anyone who tried the ‘Come and Try Evening’ to compete in Athletics track, ball throw, discus, long jump, long puck & Shot putt.

Training also continues every Wednesday at 6.30, we will concentrat­e on shot putt and turbo javelin with the kids this week, new members are always welcome.
