Banville fires Bohs into the final four

LFA Junior Cup

Wexford Bohemians booked their place in the semi-finals of the LFA Junior Cup with a 1-0 away win over Kilcock Celtic on Sunday.

P.J. Banville was the match-winner, getting the all-important goal for the Drinagh outfit in the second-half.

Meanwhile, it was the end of the road for fellow Wexford town outfit North End United as they were edged out 2-1 by Lucan United in Airlee Heights. Eoin Rhodes got the goal for the Sky Blues.

Wexford FC Cup

Forth Celtic cruised into the quarter-finals of the Wexford FC Cup as a strong second-half performanc­e saw them overwhelm fellow Premier Division outfit Campile United 5-1 at Wexford CBS on Saturday evening.

Kyle Firman fired the Murrintown side in front with just three minutes on the clock, but Campile responded well and Emmet Dunning drew them level in the 15th minute.

Forth Celtic took complete control after the interval, however, and they got their noses back in front just before the hour mark through an own goal.

Goals from Adam Beary and Luke Kavanagh made it 4-1 by the 72nd minute, and Ryan Busher put the icing on the cake with their fifth five minutes from time.

Shamrock Rovers knocked out last year’s beaten finalists Ferns United, coming out on top 2-1 in Clone. Eddie Black gave the visitors an early lead, but Kieran Murphy drew Ferns level with ten minutes on the clock.

Dylan Furlong-Hudson grabbed the winning goal in the 63rd minute.

Neil O’Sullivan Cup

North End United ‘B’ progressed to the final four of the Neil O’Sullivan Cup with a 2-1 success against fellow Division 1 side Courtown Hibs at Hollygrove on Sunday.

Dylan Ennis opened the scoring for the Sky Blues with just one minute on the clock, and Cian Brennan doubled their advantage in the 71st minute. Matty Kavanagh pulled one back for Hibs late on, but it was too little, too late.

Billy Browne Cup

Division 3A title-challenger­s Bree United kept their double hopes alive when seeing off Glynn

Barntown ‘B’ in the Billy Browne Cup quarter-final at Wexford CBS on Sunday.

Anthony Butler opened the scoring eight minutes after the break, and Noel Roche doubled their tally midway through the second-half.

Gary Cullen pulled a goal back for Glynn Barntown with five minutes remaining, but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Blackwater also won 2-1, coming from behind to edge out Fethard Rangers in Castletalb­ot with two late goals.

John Tubritt fired the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time, but Joe Kelly levelled matters in the 83rd minute and Ben Redmond grabbed the winner six minutes later.

Bunclody ‘B’ saw off Ferns

United ‘B’ 4-2 thanks to a Patrick Somers double and a goal apiece from Joe Roberts and Steven Ryan. Patrick Roche and Jonny Dwyer scored for Ferns.

Rosslare Rangers picked up three points on Sunday as they overcame bottom side Cloughbawn 4-2 at Martley Park.

The hosts were 2-0 up inside the opening quarter, thanks to goals from Cian Byrne and Jamie Tomkins. Nathan McDonald halved the deficit in the 33rd minute, but Aaron Kehoe restored the twogoal cushion five minutes before the break.

Josh Duggan made it 4-1 in the 84th minute, and Patrick Whitty netted a late consolatio­n goal for Cloughbawn.

Ballymurn Celtic moved to within a point of Fastnet Rovers and Camolin Celtic at the top of the table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Taghmon United on Sunday.

Josh Whitehead got the all-important goal for the title-hopefuls in the 39th minute.

Tommy Joe Furlong bagged an injury time winner for St. Leonards as they edged out Gorey Celtic 3-2 in Bodibro Park.

Niall Molloy contribute­d a double for the winners, while Jamie Kinch (penalty) and James McGraynor netted for the hosts.

Duncannon picked up an important three points with a 4-1 win over bottom side Enniscorth­y Town. Ryan Slowey, Dean Molloy, Kyle Baker and Josh Delaney got their goals, with Dylan Doran replying.
