- HORSE RACING

JOCKEY CONOR Stone-Walsh completed a double for trainer Gavin Cromwell when partnering Clear The Clouds to land the twomile three-furlong handicap hurdle at Naas on Thursday.

At odds of 17/2, the six-year-old led after the final hurdle and he got home by half a length from the Jimmy Barcoe-trained Early Arrival, a 33/1 shot.

The trainer had earlier teamed up with Keith Donoghue to win the rated novice hurdle over two miles with Toto Too, a 16/5 chance.

Next into the winners’ enclosure was the Seán O’Keeffe-ridden 14/1 chance Oneforgonzo which scored a runaway success in the three-mile handicap hurdle.

Trained in Conna, Co. Cork by Seán Aherne for owner Eoin Barry, the six-year-old led before the final hurdle and skipped clear to beat the Danny Howard-trained Likable Chancer by 13 lengths, easily the widest margin winner of the day.

Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore teamed up to land a double at Dundalk on Friday evening.

Warm 4/7 favourite Air Commander found a bit extra on the run-in under Moore to see off Apricot Ice by half a length in a seven-furlong maiden.

Another odds-on shot Hans Anderson (4/6) won the finale, staying on well to comfortably take the one and a half-mile contest, finishing a length and a quarter in front of Henry De Bromhead’s Gentleman Joe.

The Master of Ballydoyle and Moore went one better at Leopardstown on Sunday as they helped themselves to a treble. Wingspan (7/2) finished strongly to get the better of Jim Bolger’s Nativity Square in a one-mile maiden.

They followed up in the next race as 10/1 shot Battle Cry took the Group 3 Ballylinch Stud ‘Red Rocks’ Stakes, keeping on well under pressure to edge out stablemate Samuel Colf (4/1) by half a length.

Chantilly (7/4 favourite) was an impressive winner of the 1888 Restaurant Handicap over a mile and a quarter, comfortably beating Jim Bolger’s 15/2 shot Slaney Swagger by four and a quarter-lengths.
