ST. HELEN’S BAY LADIES

Congratula­tions to our Leinster Women’s Trophy team who had a great win against Rosslare on Monday. The team of Nora Kavanagh, Colette Mellon and Susan Fitzgerald, who played in Rosslare, and Trina Cooney, Ann Byrne and Georgina Darling, who played at home, won 3.5 to 2.5 in a nerve-wracking match that went all the way.

Nora won that valuable half point in Rosslare and Trina secured the winning point on the 17th at home. Congratula­tions to everyone and a big thank you to Rosslare for a very sporting match. Best of luck to the team in the next round.

Our Leinster Women’s Trophy team played a tense and exciting match against Mount Juliet on Saturday. It finished all square and had to go to a sudden death play-off where, unfortunat­ely, just a blade of grass on the second play-off hole separated the players and gave the victory to Mount Juliet.

Well done on a super performanc­e to home players Lily Rowe, Denise Dunne and Beppi O’Connor, and to our away ladies, Bernadette Boland, Tracy Rossiter and Martina Dempsey. Our substitute­s were Carmel Murphy and Kay McCabe, and team managers were lady Vice-Captain Mary Robinson at home, and lady President Mary Rice away. Best of luck to Mount Juliet in the next round.

We wish our President every good wish for her day, and here’s hoping for sunshine. Dining will be at 7 p.m. with the presentati­on at 9 p.m., followed by music.

Tuesday, May 21 will be team of three, and Saturday, May 25 is greensomes.

May 26 is Captain Anne Roche-Redmond’s prize to the gents, and our annual Play in Pink fourball will take place on May 28, in aid of National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI).

Hard luck to our Leinster Trophy team who lost narrowly to our neighbours St. Helen’s, and to our Revive Active team who lost out to a strong Bunclody outfit.

Thanks to our players, managers, caddies and supporters for all your dedication. Our Boyne Trophy team face St. Helen’s on May 25, and best of luck to them.

A reminder that our ‘12-hole Wine and Dine’ takes place at the Burrow course on Friday, May 24 from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by a barbecue at the Ccubhouse.
