The Ballycogley Players performed in the RTE All-Ireland Drama Festival Final at the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone, for the first time in the group’s 49 year history, last Thursday. On Saturday evening many of the cast and crew attend the awards gala. We were delighted to receive third place overall, we also received the following awards– Best Supporting Actor–Sean Carthy,The Bride Rosney Award for Outstanding Newcomer–Shay Hannon and nominations–Best Director–Pat Whelan, Best Actor– Fr Pat Mernagh and Best Stage Mangement–Celine Tracey.

This was a great achievement for our first visit to the All-Ireland Open Finals. Tuesday night saw the 19th and final performance of ‘Out of Order’ in Gorey Little Theatre, with the Raffle proceeds of €1000 going to The Hope Centre Enniscorthy in memory of our dear friend Con Doyle, the group has decided to match the €1,000 with proceeds from ticket sales.

As we bid farewell to a play that has taken Ballycogley Players on their most memorable journey to date, the group would like to thank all those who helped make our journey successful, a special mention must go to our director, Pat Whelan, our main sponsor Hidden Hearing, all our sponsors and Raymond Doyle who generously provided his vans to transport the set. Finally to you our ever loyal audiences, we hope the near 5,000 of you that saw “Out of Order” enjoyed it as much as we did.
