Murderer Marta Herda starts her life sentence at Dóchas prison

POLISH waitress Marta Herda was moved to Laurel House in the Dochas Women’s Prison last week.

Herda (29) was convicted of murdering Hungarian Csaba Orsos who drowned after she drove a car at high speed through the crash barrier at South Quay, Arklow on March 26, 2013.

Herda spent her first weekend behind bar in the prison’s committal unit before being moved to Laurel House last Monday.

Sources said that after arriving in the lodge Herda was greeted by Ireland’s most infamous female murderer Scissor Sister Charlotte Mulhall. A source told the Sunday World that ‘Charlotte rules the roost among the inmates in the Laurel Lodge’.

‘She talks to all the new inmates who go in there and basically tells them what’s on and what’s not. If Marta has any sense she’ ll go along with that because Charlotte has a mean streak when people don’t play ball.’

It is understood that Marta Herda and her legal team are currently in the process of preparing an appeal against her conviction for the murder of Csaba Orsos.

Csaba’s brother, Zoltan Sandor, said they feared Herda would get away with her crime.

‘My mother is very satisfied that Marta Herda was found guilty of Csaba’s murder, he said. We were worried as a family that she might be found not guilty, or serve a shorter sentence for manslaughter, but we are happy with the way it turned out.’
