TEACHERS THANKED FOR THEIR YEARS OF SERVICE
RETIRED members from the Gorey branch of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) were honoured for their years of service in the teaching profession at a function in the Coach House.
The teachers honoured were Anne Kearney (Shilleagh NS), Alice Doyle (Tombrack NS), Sinead McDonald and Niamh Ward Carty (Tara Hill NS), Deirdre O’Donoghue (Castletown NS), Noreen Caulfield, Judith O’Connor, Nora Murphy Cousins, Irene Mitchell, Therese Hayden and Ethna Murphy (Bunscoil Loreto), Sandra Horan (Gorey Central School), Con Brosnan (Ballycanew NS), Mary Murphy (Kilanerin NS) and Majella Dempsey (Monamolin NS).
The night began with a special guest appearance from Joe McKeown, central executive committee representative of INTO. Branch chairperson Karen Conroy was the master of ceremonies for the night and she thanked organisers Sean Ó Dubhlaing, Enda Morris, Fiachra Ó Tuairisig, Padraig O’Connor, Joe McKeown and Brid Cleary for the event.
Traditional music was provided by Niall Quillinan and Aileen Kennedy, while a delicious spread of food was produced by the Coach House, followed by some baked goods from Stafford’s Bakery. Mena Florists in Gorey put together the bouquet of flowers.
One of the organisers, Brid, said she would like to thank everyone for their help and to Maurice and the staff at the Coach House for being so accommodating.
Each teacher received a small presentation of flowers, wine and a gift voucher for the Coach House.
