Tinahely ready for Christmas with festive lights ceremony

Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

THE festive season will get under way in Tinahely on Sunday, December 9 when the Christmas lights will be switched on at 4.30 p.m.

The Market square will be the focal point of the festivities with the unveiling and blessing of the new outdoor crib, carol singing and the switching on of the Christmas lights.

And of course Santa Claus will make an appearance with goodies for all the children who will be greeted by his elves. Shortly afterwards he will make his way to his magical grotto in the Courthouse Arts Centre. Light refreshments will be served.

A special red Santa post box is located outside the Craft Butcher’s shop and children can start sending their letters and wish-lists directly to ‘Santa Claus, The North Pole’.

Tinahely Christmas lights would not be possible without the extraordinary work of the enthusiastic volunteers and committee who put so much time and effort into making all this happen. This year there was a big investment in rewiring and maintenance of the electrical network throughout the village, along with the installation of new Christmas lights, trees and accessories.
