A BOOK of evidence was served recently on a man accused of indecent assault on persons under the age of 17, causing unnecessary suffering to those persons, and ill-treatment of an animal. James Clarke (63), 7 Devils Cottage, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, appeared in Bray District Court for the production of the book. The court heard that the DPP had consented for the matter to be sent forward for trial to the central criminal court. The crimes are alleged to have occurred between May 1988, and May 1989, at Sea Road in Kilcoole.

There was no application for bail. Judge David Kennedy agreed to legal aid for two council, given the serious nature of the charges.

The court heard that Clarke is serving a sentence in Arbour Hill prison.
