‘No plans’ to up­grade garda sta­tion

A RE­QUEST at Mon­day’s Joint Polic­ing Com­mit­tee meet­ing for up­grades to Bless­ing­ton Garda Sta­tion was met with the news that noth­ing would be done in the fore­see­able fu­ture as other sta­tions are in more ur­gent need of at­ten­tion.

Cllr Gerry O’Neill asked if there are any plans to im­prove Bless­ing­ton by Chief Supt Quirke said that there is noth­ing on the agenda for im­pov­ing the west Wick­low sta­tion.

‘A key pri­or­ity is the re­de­vel­op­ment of Grey­stones Garda Sta­tion. The cur­rent sta­tion is ap­palling and staff are work­ing in ridicu­lous con­di­tions,’ said Chief Supt Quirke, who also con­firmed that Donard Garda Sta­tion is to open in the new year when up­grade works are com­pleted.
