Wicklow People (Arklow) - - NEWS -

THE community of Arklow will be blowing the January blues away with a great celebration on Friday 18 as the popular Hurry to the Curry event returns.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the RNLI fundraising event and tickets are already selling like hot cakes.

The Arklow Bay Hotel will once again play host to the fundraiser which will see a mouthwatering array of food prepared by head chef Anne Lynch Mordaunt and her volunteer kitchen crew. The event started 50 years ago when the late Dan Kearon decided to bring a selection of exotic curry and seafood dishes to the Arklow public.

The tradition caught on and to this day, the Hurry to the Curry buffet is much anticipated by guests.

Music this year will be provided by Gravity followed by a DJ to keep the party going after the food has been served.

Support is greatly appreciated by the RNLI which is run entirely by volunteers and by funds raised.

Tickets cost €20 and are on sale from Michael Mordaunt 086 3871500, Paul Burke 086 0727146, Tommy Nolan 086 1612037 and Tony Fennell 086 2569787, committee members and the Arklow Bay Hotel. Doors open at 8 p.m. sharp.
