Day care service
Blessington and District Day Care was established in the community in the early 2000s. Its first location was in St Joseph’s Hall and it then moved to the modern premises in the Coimín Centre.
The location of this facility in our community is rented from the local parish and payment was made by the Day Care Committee for the fit-out of the Day Care Area in the Coimín Centre.
The HSE support this activity by the supply of Nurses and carers and also make a generous contribution to the overall running costs. They are also assisted by County Wicklow Partnership, who facilitate by supplying staff.
The Day Care takes place each week on a Wednesday and Thursday and approximately 20 people attend on each day.
During the day attendees can avail of nursing services, delicious lunch, tea or coffee, laundry services, if necessary, showering facility, entertainment, physio, foot care and hairdressing.
Outings take place on occasions and visitors attend the centre to do such things as arts and crafts, flower arranging, musical entertainment etc.
The Day Care Voluntary Committee work to facilitate all of this service and hope in the future with the assistance of the HSE to provide additional days.
They wish to sincerely thank all who have made financial contributions to the Day Care Committee and supported the fundraising events over the years and ask for your continued support in providing this service in the community.
Contributions can be made through the collection boxes which are located in several shops in the town, by direct donation or by assigning a contribution in your will.
If you know of anybody within the locality who would like to attend the Day Care in the Coimín Centre please contact one of the district nurses or drop in on a Wednesday or Thursday and meet Bernie and the staff.
