A pre-Christ­mas af­ter­noon tea dance will take place in the Brock­agh Cen­tre from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sun­day, Novem­ber 18. Mu­sic will be by the Wick­low Man. All are wel­come but groups must book in ad­vance by call­ing the cen­tre at 0404 45600. There will be a small charge to cover re­fresh­ments. Donations of raf­fle prizes would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.


The Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, Laragh will be col­lect­ing clothes in aid of the cen­tre from Mon­day, Novem­ber 5, to Fri­day, Novem­ber 9. You can drop in your clothes bag through­out the week up till mid­day on the Fri­day. Thank you for your sup­port.


Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the vil­lage at­tended a re­cent func­tion in Brooklodge to ac­knowl­edge the ef­forts with the Pure Mile pro­ject (from Bal­lard wood to the vil­lage). Hope­fully, more work will be planned to en­hance this stretch of road next year.

In or­der to cel­e­brate our im­pres­sive re­sults in the re­cent Tidy Towns com­pe­ti­tion and also to an­nounce the win­ners in the kerb­side gar­den com­pe­ti­tion, a get-to­gether is planned for Fri­day, Novem­ber 16, at 9 p.m. in Lyn­hams. The prizes for the gar­den com­pe­ti­tion will be spon­sored by Avon Mo­tors and will be awarded to win­ners in three cat­e­gories − small, medium and larger gar­den.

All are very wel­come. It is an op­por­tu­nity to thank every­one for their help through­out the year with lit­ter pick­ing, weed­ing, erect­ing gran­ite stones, strim­ming verges, paint­ing, plant­ing shrubs and the nu­mer­ous other tasks that helped im­prove our score by 13 points. Keep up the great work.

A Mass of remembranc­e for those who died dur­ing the year will take place in St Kevin’s church at 7 p.m. on Satur­day, Novem­ber 17.


Once again we see the re­turn of our very pop­u­lar and suc­cess­ful Christ­mas Fair at the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, laragh, Glen­dalough. A ter­rific se­lec­tion of un­usual gifts, with many hand­made items, giv­ing you some great ideas for your Christ­mas shop­ping. Do all your Christ­mas shop­ping, un­der one roof with free park­ing and free ad­mis­sion. Come along on Sun­day, December 9, mak­ing it a day out for all the fam­ily. Tam­ing the Mon­key Mind is a six-week pro­gramme that con­sists of one and a half hours each week. Par­tic­i­pants can ex­pect to learn mind­ful­ness prac­tices for life to bring more ease and calm into the day, ease a rac­ing mind, re­duce stress and in­crease calm and well-be­ing, re­con­nect with what makes them truly happy. Tues­days morn­ings 10.30 – mid­day at the Brock­agh Cen­tre, par­ents, ba­bies and tod­dlers get to­gether, have lots of fun weeks with art and crafts and make new friends. It is also a great way to meet and so­cial­ize with par­ents, es­pe­cially if you are new to the area. Con­tact us at 0404 45600 at the cen­tre for more in­for­ma­tion.


Teens and adults will en­joy Taek­won-Do, a Korean art of self-de­fence. Ben­e­fits in­clude im­prov­ing con­fi­dence, re­spect, dis­ci­pline, aware­ness, con­cen­tra­tion, chan­nel­ing ag­gres­sion, bal­ance, co­or­di­na­tion, speed, re­ac­tions, fit­ness and health. Call Mas­ter Ken­neth Wheat­ley at 087 2547347 for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion. Classes are on Tues­days at 7.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. (se­niors and teens). Chil­dren’s classes are on Tues­days at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (4-7 years), 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. (8-12 years).


The group meet most Tues­days, so if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light ex­er­cise, bowls, mu­sic come along on at 11 a.m., they wel­come any new­comer.
