De Burgh concert for cancer support
GREYSTONES woman Noireen Clarke won the coveted top prize of a €1,000 SuperValu shopping spree in the Greystones Cancer Support draw.
Everyone at the draw was a winner though, as they were treated to an intimate performance by Irish superstar Chris de Burgh. This was de Burgh’s first Irish concert in a decade, and held in aid of Greystones Cancer Support (GCS).
Author Paul McNeive acted as MC for the evening, which was hosted by theatre owner Ross McParland and included a legendary performance by the ‘Lady in Red’ star.
‘They supported our GCS work so well and we are very grateful,’ said spokeswoman Kathleen Kelleher.
Other winners in the draw include TA Cromie, who won a Google Home donated by Eileen and Tom Horan of Bright Pay. Olive Hurley from Greystones won a Samsung Galaxy tablet, donated by Mark Kinsella funeral directors.
‘Olive’s grandchildren will teach her how to use this latest device and she will be able to keep in contact with them,’ said a GCS spokeswoman.
Kelly Rogers from Greystones will have a very happy Christmas, having won a €200 voucher donated by butcher Des Doyle. Pierse Kiernan was the winner of a stay and meal at the Powerscourt Arms, while Alice Lee won a Greystones Golf Club fourball. Tony Rennix was the winner of a watercolour painting of the big Sugarloaf.
Organisers thanked all of the prize sponsors, and vendors who facilitated ticket sales.
