Coláiste Chill Mhantáin drive on

THE second round of the Wicklow section of the South Leinster ‘C’ qualifer group was played in Rathnew GAA grounds on Monday between Coláiste Chill Mhantáin and Gaelcholáiste na Mara from Arklow.

The Wicklow town school have a very stong squad, back boned by players from St. Patricks and Rathnew and were never in danger of losing this game.

Aided by a very stong wind in the first half they ran out to a 3-9 to 0-0 lead at the half-time whistle.

To their credit, Gaelcholáiste na Mara never stopped trying and were rewarded with 3-2 during the second half.

Strong running and good ball carrying skills by many of the skillfull Coláiste Chill Mhantáin lads along with some slick score taking showed that the Wicklow based college will have a big say in this particular competition.

Special mention to their coach and teacher John Paul Davis, he certainly has them all playing well and singing off the same hymn sheet.

Owen Doyle, Cillian Clarke, Callum Kelly, Mark Evans, Mark Whelan, Fionm Luddy and Ryan Kavanagh were excellent for Coláiste Chill Mhantáin while Brian Hurley, Dara Furlong, Adam Arslinn, Frank Reynolds, and Luke Scanlon never gave up throughout the game.
