Last Mon­day at Wick­low Com­mu­nity Games Agm in the Glen­dalough Ho­tel we were named best area in the county. This is all due to the hard work of our vol­un­teers and the sup­port we re­ceive from the lo­cal schools and clubs.

And we will be hon­oured along with our Steps to Health Sil­ver Award at the Na­tional Area, Me­dia and Vol­un­teer Awards in Ca­van Crys­tal Ho­tel at the end of the month. Well done to our great lit­tle area and here’s to 2019.

Aughrim YOGA CLASSES

Yoga in Aughrim. Mixed level classes (begin­ners wel­come) at Aughrim Com­mu­nity Sports Com­plex. Mon­days 9.30 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. and Wed­nes­days 8 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. A new four­week course com­mences on Novem­ber 19 for the Mon­day class. Cost €40 or €13 drop in rate. Do your­self a favour and visit the com­mit­ted crafts peo­ple and food pro­duc­ers for a wel­come coun­try style shop­ping ex­pe­ri­ence.

AC­TIVE RE­TIRE­MENT

The trip to New­bridge is on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 29, Ac­tive re­tire­ment mem­bers will get 20% dis­count on all sil­ver­ware prod­ucts. The bus will leave Law­less’ Ho­tel at 9.30 a.m. and the cost is €15. Please have the amount due in an en­ve­lope with your name on the day. On Fri­day, Novem­ber 30, the Net­work for older peo­ple sem­i­nar takes place in the Glen­dalough Ho­tel. Please reg­is­ter be­fore 10.45 a.m. Cost €5 which in­cludes lunch. Yoga con­tin­ues next Tues­day the 21st 10.30 a.m. Our fi­nal mag­a­zine for the mo­ment, is­sue 20, is now avail­able.

GAA NEWS

A big thanks to all who sup­ported our race night fundraiser in Joe O’Toole’s re­cently. To all those who spon­sored races, bought horses and at­tended on the night, all your sup­port is very much ap­pre­ci­ated. Our AGM is sched­uled for Fri­day, Novem­ber 30, at 8 p.m., all in­ter­ested are wel­come to at­tend. This is a great op­por­tu­nity to get in­volved in your lo­cal GAA club.

MED­I­TA­TION/ HEAL­ING COURSE

Venue: Law­less Ho­tel Aughrim. Dates: Novem­ber 24/25. Jan­u­ary 25/26 (10 p.m. to 5 p.m.) each day. Fee: €75 for each one day mod­ule. There are four mod­ules in to­tal. Ann is cer­ti­fied by the Jade Sun School to fa­cil­i­tate this Pro­gram. She is also a reg­is­tered So­lar Sound Heal­ing Prac­ti­tioner and Tai Chi and Qi Gong in­struc­tor.

The lo­cal Com­mu­nity Group are re­mind­ing all mem­bers of our com­mu­nity to look out for all se­nior mem­bers of our com­mu­nity who may be liv­ing alone and might need some one to help with get­ting their ev­ery day need, or a small but of com­pany for a while dur­ing the day. A small bit of con­cern for oth­ers goes a long way to help take away the stress and wor­ries of many peo­ple who feel they are left alone in life.
