ICA LADIES GO BACK TO THE ’60S
IT WAS BACK to the ’60s at the Wicklow Federation ICA Guild of the Year Competition which took place recently.
Ten guilds from across County Wicklow were represented at the event at the Woodenbridge Hotel.
Members from Hollywood, Ashford, Ballycoog, Moneystown, Avoca, Wicklow town, Bray, Delgany, Tinahely and Newtownmountkennedy did themselves proud as they put on colourful and imaginative displays with a ’60s theme.
The fancy dress was a sight to behold and the entire event was a fun and entertaining experience for all. There was an array of wonderful crochet flower power hats, colourful tie dye t-shirts, and amazing cakes.
Members also wrote about their memories of the 1960s. The large attendance also enjoyed the five-minute entertainment with a ’60s theme put on by each of the guilds with a huge variety of ideas accompanied by the sounds of the sixties.
Then the ladies who had dressed in ’60s style strutted their stuff before the results were announced.
The judges, Mary Hegarty and Sheila Clancy, had really difficult jobs as the standard of each entry was very high.
The overall winner was Delgany Guild, who also won the prize for Best Display Table, Best Entertainment and tied with Wicklow town for Best Cake.
Wicklow town came second also winning the crafts section with a beautiful Crochet Flower Power Hat.
Tinahely Guild came third and the prize for Best Tie Dye T-Shirt was won by Newtownmountkennedy Guild while the Hollywood Guild picked up the prize for Written Memories. It was a memorable night enjoyed by all.
