Book recalls village life
A RECENTLY launched book provides plenty of information on the history of Manor Kilbride village.
The Kilbride Book - Memories of Manor Kilbride was complied by Brenda O’Brien, Ita Donohue and Tom McKeon and is packed full of photographs and stories about life in the village.
Some people may be familiar with some of the photos and newspaper clippings used, but a great deal of the book’s content is from private collections that have never previously been published. Many families opened up their family albums during the process of compiling the book and gave permission for the use of personal photographs and events.
The new book was officially launched just before Christmas in Manor Kilbride Community Hall.
The book covers all aspect of village life in Manor Kilbride, from the changes that have occurred down through the years to how people lived their lives during the changing decades.
A great deal of the content also relates to the local GAA club, as is the case with so many Irish villages.
While the book does recount different historical events in Manor Kilbride, it is more a collection of photos and articles about the area and the many characters who have called the village home.
Some of the contributing articles were written by local residents.
