Garda ap­peal af­ter items found dis­carded in Ark­low

GAR­DAÍ in Ark­low are ap­peal­ing for the owner of prop­erty be­lieved to have been stolen over the Christ­mas pe­riod to come for­ward and claim it.

A num­ber of brass or­na­ments were lo­cated dis­carded near Brookview Gar­dens be­fore New Year’s Eve and in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers be­lieve they were stolen from a prop­erty in the lower end of the town.

They ap­pear to be a set which makes a farm­yard scene as well as two can­dle­sticks and fig­urines of fish­er­men.

A num­ber of fur­ther break-ins were re­ported to have taken place in the south­ern part of Ark­low over Christ­mas and New Year, with a par­tic­u­lar em­pha­sis on tools and elec­tri­cal equip­ment.

In once in­stance, a wheel­bar­row of stolen goods was dis­carded and found by a mem­ber of the pub­lic while items were also re­ported stolen from a shed and a work­shop.

The in­ci­dents took place in the Har­bour Road, South Quay and South Green ar­eas of the town.
