I’m afraid the scam merchants are at it again. So this is a warning to all of you out there. This latest scam is a telephone one usually to your landline number. Yours truly has received a number of these calls from numbers beginning with either 4412 or 4417 claiming to be from Eir informing you that there are problems with your broadband.

The phone numbers usually have 13 digits. Not surprisingly they will repair your broadband for a fee. When I informed the caller that I was not an Eir customer he was quick to tell me that my landline is provided by Eir. When I contacted my telephone company to make a complaint they told me that they had received numerous complaints from customers and were trying to block these scam calls.

Hopefully the problem will be sorted out sooner rather than later. For the moment I will not be answering any phone calls from thesenumbers.
