Bad­minton Ire­land un­der-15 Na­tional events took place over the first week­end of Fe­bru­ary in Bal­doyle Bad­minton cen­tre, with a huge en­try con­test­ing all dis­ci­plines in­clud­ing a great rep­re­sen­ta­tion from Balt­in­glass. The week­end be­gan with the boys and Girls Sin­gles, fol­lowed by the boys and girls Dou­bles and Mixed.

Balt­in­glass Bad­minton Club were very priv­i­leged to have two play­ers se­lected for the 2019 Le­in­ster un­der-13 Celtic Chal­lenge hosted by the Bryn Estyn Bad­minton Cen­tre in North Wales. Com­pe­ti­tion was run over the week­end be­tween teams from Al­pha (Ul­ster), Le­in­ster, Loth­ian (Scot­land) and Wales. This com­pe­ti­tion is steeped in history be­ing the bedrock of fu­ture In­ter­na­tional play­ers and the Balt­in­glass club se­cured two berths on the team in the form of Eoghan Cooney and Zarah Pen­der. Be­yond that the Balt­in­glass King academy had a fur­ther four play­ers on the team, Chloe Mc­grane, Se­nan O’Rourke, Aman Kothiyal and Dar­ragh Murtagh.

Spe­cial men­tion must be ex­tended to the super coaches, Jean Kelly, Kate Frost and Jack Lawlor, the kit girls Olivia and Liza, all the trav­el­ling par­ents for their sup­port, Le­in­ster Branch and the Welsh Bad­minton As­so­ci­a­tion.
