Li­brary move

Talk of Balt­in­glass Li­brary mak­ing the un­usual move of re­lo­cat­ing to the Court­house ap­pears to be well founded. This is due to hap­pen in and around April of this year. It will mean that the li­brary will move out from its cur­rent ground floor lo­ca­tion (the old Her­itage Cen­tre) to the Court­house while re­tain­ing the chil­dren’s li­brary and in­ter­net area as they are. There will be lift ac­cess from the ground floor and ac­cess from the old stone steps.

The move was prompted by the re­cent pro­pos­als to re­de­velop the Court­house into a co-work­ing space, a community space and an ex­hibit of the Court­house cel­lars. Wick­low County Coun­cil has made the de­ci­sion to take over the Court­house as the li­brary and the cur­rent li­brary area will then be used as the co-work­ing space.
