TIDY TOWNS

Rath­drum Tidy towns would like to con­grat­u­late Pat Kennedy on his elec­tion suc­cess.

All team mem­bers and vol­un­teers please note we shall be meet­ing in the Mar­ket Square, Rath­drum, ev­ery Mon­day even­ing at 7 p.m. Any­one, who wishes to join us or help us in any way is very wel­come. We reached a good stan­dard last year, so let’s keep up the good work and do even bet­ter this year.

BLESS­ING OF GRAVES

Bless­ing of graves will take place over the summer as fol­lows: Rath­drum Ceme­tery Sun­day, June 16, 3.00 p.m (in­clud­ing Mass) Greenane Ceme­tery Sun­day, June 30, 3 p.m. (in­clud­ing Mass) Famine Grave­yard Wed­nes­day, June 26, at 7.30 p.m. (in­clud­ing Mass) Wha­ley Abbey Wed­nes­day, July 24, at 7.30 p.m. Prayer Ser­vice and bless­ing of the graves.

ATH­LETIC CLUB NEWS

The Par­nell girls had a busy week­end with Com­mu­nity Games in Lim­er­ick and Re­lays in County Kil­dare. Well done to Lacey Shan­non on fifth place and the fourth team in the un­der-16 Road race. Ciara Colo­han had a great run in the un­der-13 1200m mak­ing it to the fi­nal and Maria Zakharenca un­der-12 Re­lay and Cross Coun­try. The un­der-10 and un­der-11 Re­lay teams had su­per runs, Emma Byrne, Ella Breen, Am­ber Lily Carey, El­iz­a­beth Leschenco, He­len Win­ter­bot­tom and Leah Bar­rett.

A re­minder that our 1-mile chal­lenge fundraiser takes place on Thurs­day, June 6, for ages un­der-8 to 16, se­niors, par­ents, Fun Run­ners. Open to ev­ery­one, please join us.

WHIST

Re­sults of the last whist drive: Top Score – M Haughton and B Kelly; sec­ond place – C Doyle and M Whe­lan; third and fourth place shared – L Melia and M Cow­man, N Vick­ers and C Driver. Raf­fle win­ners were C Driver, J Olo­han and N Vick­ers. Next whist drive will be held on Wed­nes­day, June 12, at 8.30 p.m. in the Anne Devlin An­nex, RDA.

BINGO

Bingo is onas usual on Fri­day night at 8.30 p.m. in the RDA Hall, all wel­come.

BLOOD CLINIC

Next Blood Clinic will be held on Thurs­day, July 18, in the RDA Hall. Slim­ming World.

Slim­ming World Rath­drum is held ev­ery Thurs­day in the Anne Devlin An­nex, RDA at 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Pop in or con­tact Caro­line De­lahunt at 087 7853600.

WICK­LOW 200/100 CY­CLE

The Wick­low 200 and 100 cy­cle takes place next Sun­day, June 9. As usual Rath­drum has been se­lected as one of the re­fresh­ment stops at the RDA Hall.

The 200 route from Bray through Round­wood, Hol­ly­wood, Agha­van­nagh, Glen­malure, Rath­drum and back to Bray is a tough route for all con­cerned. The Wick­low 100 route also comes through Rath­drum via Laragh. Ex­pect a lot of cy­clists on the roads on Sun­day and in the town.

COUN­CIL ELEC­TIONS

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Cllr Pat Kennedy, who was re-elected in the coun­cil elec­tions, top­ping the County Wick­low polls. Pat works tire­lessly for the im­prove­ment of Rath­drum and his re-elec­tion will no doubt be for the ben­e­fit of the town.

GYM­NAS­TICS/TRAM­PO­LINE SUMMER CAMPS

Summer camps in both Rath­drum and Wick­low Town, all run by pro­fes­sional coaches who are all ex or cur­rent gym­nasts. This is our 11th year run­ning camps and they are al­ways full.

Great fun for all from the ab­so­lute be­gin­ner up to the very as­pir­ing gym­nast. Camps cover floor, vault, bars, beam, tram­po­line and our Air Floor for ba­sic tum­bling skills. Ages 3+. Camps are li­censed by Gym­nas­tics Ire­land and all par­tic­i­pants are reg­is­tered with them for summer mem­ber­ship. THURS­DAY WALKS

Last week turned into a per­fect even­ing for the 38 par­tic­i­pants after a misty start. Pad­dock Hill pro­vided its usual 360 panoramic views which were thor­oughly en­joyed by all. The now oblig­a­tory his­tory les­son on the Gos­san Stones, which are en­coun­tered on the cir­cuit, was also given.

This week takes us to Brag/ White­washed Gables in Glen­malure. Meet as usual in Par­nell Me­mo­rial Park for 7 p.m., Glen­malure Lodge at 7.20 and walk start at 7.25.
