An opportunity lost

Wicklow People (West Edition) - - SPORT -

WICKLOW manager Eamon Scallan spoke after the game in Owenbeg and was obviously disappointed in the manner in which his troops lost out on a semi-final berth having gone through the campaign putting up some massive scores which saw Wicklow record a total of 5-49 in three games and he felt it was a lost opportunity for such a gallant bunch of players who have given loyal support to him and his selectors during the year.

He said he was happy with the progress the team had made during the year, having being crowned NHL Division 2 league champions and enjoying their good run in the Christy Ring Cup which saw six younger players introduced to the squad.

This year he hopes the entire panel remains intact and going forward next year he would like to see a number of other players make themselves available as Wicklow make the step up in league hurling.

Eamon would like to thank the County Board and all the backroom staff for their help and a special word of thanks to the entire panel for loyality and dedication during the year.
