Coun­cil mem­bers ap­pointed to var­i­ous groups and com­mit­tees

The 32 mem­bers of Wick­low County Coun­cil took what was sup­posed to be a 15 minute re­cess to de­cide on who would be the chairs of var­i­ous com­mit­tees, af­ter an hour, they returned to settle those po­si­tions and mem­ber­ship of groups.

The Cathaoir­laigh for strate­gic pol­icy com­mit­tees were nom­i­nated and agreed ini­tially.

Cllr Gerry Walsh for Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment and En­ter­prise, for the ini­tial two and a half pe­riod, fol­lowed by Cllr Tom For­tune for the sec­ond term.

Com­mu­nity, Cul­tural and So­cial De­vel­op­ment com­mit­tee chair will be Cllr Gail Dunne for the first pe­riod and

Cllr Vin­cent Blake for the sec­ond.

Cllr John Snell was nom­i­nated as Cathaoir­leach of the Hous­ing and Cor­po­rate Es­tate SPC.

For Trans­port, Wa­ter and Emer­gency Ser­vices, Derek Mitchell for the first pe­riod, fol­lowed by Cllr Pat Fitzger­ald.

Cllr Sylvester Bourke will be chair of Plan­ning and En­vi­ron­ment for the first pe­riod, fol­lowed by Ed­ward Tim­mins for the sec­ond.

Cllr Jennifer Whit­more will be chair of the cli­mate action and bio­di­ver­sity SPC for two and a half years, fol­lowed by Cllr Steven Matthews for two and a half years.

The mem­bers of the Cor­po­rate Pol­icy Group were then es­tab­lished - the group in­cludes the Cathaoir­leach, chairs of each SPC, and in this case the Cathaoir­laigh of Bray and Balt­in­glass af­ter their Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict AGMs have taken place.

The ap­point­ment of mem­bers to the JPC was de­ferred to the mu­nic­i­pal dis­tricts.

Cllr Avril Cronin, Cllr Steven Matthews and Cllr Gerry Walsh were ap­pointed to the East Mid­lands Re­gional Assem­bly.

Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy, Cllr Gerry O’Neill, Cllr Patsy Glen­non and Cllr Joe Be­han were ap­pointed to the Re­gional Health Fo­rum.

Ap­point­ments to the Lo­cal Trav­eller Ac­com­mo­da­tion Con­sul­ta­tive Com­mit­tee were de­ferred to the mu­nic­i­pal dis­tricts, as one is re­quired from each dis­trict.

Cllr Pat Kennedy, Cllr Der­mot O’Brien, Cllr Pier Leonard and Cllr Me­lanie Cor­ri­gan were ap­pointed to the Lo­cal Com­mu­nity De­vel­op­ment Com­mit­tee.

The ap­point­ment of three mem­bers - one from Grey­stones and two from Bray - to Bray Area Part­ner­ship, was de­ferred to mu­nic­i­pal dis­trict AGMs.

Cllr Avril Cronin, Cllr Paul O’Brien and Cllr John Mullen were nom­i­nated for the County Wick­low Part­ner­ship.

Fi­nal­i­sa­tion was de­ferred for clar­i­fi­ca­tion as there are cur­rently only two va­can­cies.

Cllr Gail Dunne and Cllr Mary Ka­vanagh were ap­pointed to Wick­low En­ter­prise Park.

Cllr Mags Crean, Cllr Me­lanie Cor­ri­gan and Cllr Steven Matthews were ap­pointed to Mer­maid Arts Cen­tre.

Cllr Paul O’Brien, Cllr Anne Fer­ris, Cllr Derek Mitchell, Cllr Vin­cent Blake, Cllr Lourda Scott, Cllr Tom For­tune, Cllr Pat Ka­vanagh, Cllr Gerry Walsh, Cllr John Mullen, Cllr Grace McManus, Cllr Pier Leonard and Cllr Pat Fitzger­ald were all ap­pointed to the stand­ing or­ders com­mit­tee.

Cllr Gail Dunne, Cllr Rory O’Connor and Cllr Shay Cullen were ap­pointed to the As­so­ci­a­tion of Ir­ish Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment.

Cllr Vin­cent Blake was ap­pointed to the Lo­cal Author­i­ties Mem­bers As­so­ci­a­tion.

East Coast Re­gional Drugs Task Force mem­bers will be se­lected in the Arklow, Grey­stones and Wick­low dis­tricts.

Cllr Gerry O’Neill was se­lected to at­tend the an­nual meet­ing of Ir­ish Pub­lic Bod­ies.

One mem­ber from each dis­trict will be se­lected at their own AGMs for Wick­low County Tourism, and an ap­point­ment to Bray Tourism was de­ferred also.

Cllr Pier Leonard was ap­pointed to Mu­sic Gen­er­a­tion.

Cllr John Mullen, Cllr Pier Leonard and Cllr Ed­ward Tim­mins were ap­pointed to the lo­cal com­mit­tee to over­see the ru­ral wa­ter pro­gramme.

Three mem­bers from Bray and three from Grey­stones will be ap­pointed lo­cally to the cliff walk man­age­ment plan sub com­mit­tee. Two from Bray will be ap­pointed to the har­bour de­vel­op­ment com­mit­tee, and three to the Bray swim­ming pool com­mit­tee.

An ap­point­ment to the Bal­ly­na­gran Com­mu­nity Li­ai­son Com­mit­tee was de­ferred to Wick­low Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict.

Cllr Paul O’Brien and Cllr Gerry Walsh were ap­pointed to Wick­low Lo­cal Sports Part­ner­ship.

Cllr Patsy Glen­non, Cllr Tom For­tune, Cllr Paul O’Brien, Cllr Lourda Scott and Cllr Anne Fer­ris were ap­pointed to the KWETB.
