BARNDARRIG

Well done to the under-11 boys and girls who have had a number of great wins in the last few weeks, reward for a great effort all year!

Well done also to all the under-7s who took part in the monster blitz in ballinakill, everyone had a great day.

The lads had a good away win over Ballymanus Sunday last on a scoreline of 2-8 to 9 points in Division 2 to take us out of the relegation zone.

The hurlers are out tonight against Arklow Rocks in Arklow in the junior league.

Don’t forget lotto tickets are available from all local shops, pubs and committee members. The jackpot now stands at €2,800.

Thanks to everyone who supported our Bake sale and Raffle last weekend, over €700 was raised for the club.

NEWTOWN

Huge thanks to the late Sean McShane’s two sons, John and Paul,ho hosting yet another fabulous annual fundraiser in Druids Glen on June 2nd.

Monies raised were in aid of the club and Pieta House. A sun shone and a great day of golf was had by all, next year is the 10th anniversary of the Sean McShane memorial and it promises to be a big one!

Thanks for Dominic Leech, Druids Glen, all our sponsors and all those involved in making it such a memorable event.

Newtown GAA extend deepest sympathies to parents, children and family of Thomas (OXO) Doyle who sadly passed away on Saturday last.

May Thomas rest in peace. The Nursery is running every Saturday morning at 11.30 and each week the children have super fun, so come along and join in.

A massive thanks to Adrian Dunne Pharmacy and Denise who got in touch to see how they could help out!!

Denise couldn’t have began more helpful and arranged great new t-shirts for all the kids.

The under-11s fell to a narrow 2-7 to 2-5 in Barndarrig on Wednesday evening.

Newtown had the advantage of a decent breeze in the first half but only went in level 1-2 each at half time, setting a difficult task for the second half. They played most of their best football into the wind in the second half with some hard earned well worked scores but the home side picked off a few good long range points of their own to edge the game.

Overall, another good competitive game for the 11s between two evenly matched teams.

Team: Luke Turley, Sam Fenelon, Noah Flannery, Aaron Garrett, Dylan Dunleavy, Cathal O’Toole, Pat Carey, Aidan Heffernan, Mike Synnott, Ryan Mc Donald, Darren Fisher, John Turley, Oisin Duffy.

The season is in full flow. Can all parents/players make sure membership is paid up over the coming weeks.

Nursery and Go Games 7s 9s €20; Juvenile u11-u17s €40;Adult non working €50; Adult working €75; Non playing membership €50.

As you can see these are very moderate fees for a full year. You can pay these in the Post Office

There was no winner of last weeks lotto jackpot of €2,400, numbers drawn were 10, 13, 24, and 26, One person won €200 by matching three numbers. Please buy a ticket to help support the club.

BALLYMANUS

Well done to all involved in the table quiz last weekend in aid of the juveniles. Super night and lots of money raised.

Well done also to Mark Kenny who put in a solid shift against Leitrim (it just wasn’t to be) and to Callum McCrae and the rest of the Michael Dwyer under-14 hurlers in the Féile last weekend down in Cork.

The lads played super and even reached the semis.

The Intermediates suffered a 2-8 to 0-9 defeat in the Gap last weekend.

Two soft goals was the difference in the end, but the lads just never got going in the second half and rued several chances to build on their 0-6 to 1-2 half-time lead.

The loss was definitely disappointing but probably worst of all was another addition to our now ridiculous injury list.

Hopefully Glenn will be back in action shortly and the injury looked worse than what it actually is.

The final league game of the year is away to Valleymount next Sunday morning.

With only a few weeks to our championship opener against league promoted Coolkenno, a win would certainly be welcome and a bit of momentum into the game.

It won’t be easy, however, and will require all hands to the deck. All support appreciated.

Finally, there was no lotto jackpot winner from 1, 7, 10, and 27. Match-three winners were Kieran Whelan, Ryan and Tara Leeson, and Denis Keogh.

Seniors: The Seniors finished off the last game of the league with a hard-earned victory over Baltinglass on Sunday in a match that had no further advantage to either side.

The match was still played with championship tempo. At half-time we led by 0-7 to 0-3 and were well worth the advantage.

But in the second half Balto came at us and got the first few scores to cause some concern. We had a converted penalty, and this put us back in control.

Temperatures rose and the game was stopped by the ref to calm down the situation in which K. J. Rogers had to go to hospital with a serious mouth injury.

Balto were down to 14 men and we held out to win by 1-8 to 1-7.

Scorers: P. McLoughlin 1pt, E. Boylan 4pts. D. Boothman 1pt. S. Byrne 1pt. S. Carroll 1.01.(penalty). Wishing Kevin John a speedy recovery.

Next up is a home game to AGB on Thursday, June 13, at 7.30pm.

Senior ladies: Away against Garda/Westmanstown Gaels on Wednesday, June 12, 7.15pm.

Under-14 girls Féile: Our under-14 girls are heading West for Féile Peil na nÓg from June 28-30.

One of three clubs representing Wicklow, our girls are very excited. We will be hosted by Naomh Mhuire Oranmore in Galway.

Anyone that knows about Féile will be aware there’s a huge cost involved in sending teams and our girls have done up (with a little help!) a wonderful letter seeking the support and sponsorship of local or any businesses willing to contribute.

Instead of targeting one business for a big amount we appeal for just €100 per business to sponsor one of our players.

Being affordable, in supporting our young girls you will get full recognition for the sponsorship with our player profiles including your business name/logo and acknowledgement on all our networks (social media etc).

We are extremely grateful for all sponsorship received so far. If any

other businesses are in a position to contribute, please contact any of the management: Jess 086 8602022 and Kim 085 2079643.

We are very much looking forward to the build up to one of the most memorable weekends in the Gaelic football calendar. All the girls profiles are on our Facebook page along with sponsors.

Under-12 White: What a performance from the girls on the under-12 white team last Thursday night against AGB.

A shaky start with only 12 players starting due to everyone getting lost but the girls really put on the pressure in the second half and were brilliant.

The ‘never give up’ attitude yet again comes through. From goals to full forward everyone put in a super shift.

Some girls are only new to it and were super (Sarah x2, Alana). Well done girls. 21 players deserved POTM but we have to give it to Orlagh Murphy and Willow Pope. Well done kids.

Under-12 Blue: Miserable evening for the match on June 4, but our girls made it worthwhile with a 3-5 to 3-2 win away vs Tinahely. Conditions were tough and both teams fought hard, but our girls really battled in the 2nd half to get back in front and clinch the win!

The whole team were superb and once again the never give up attitude shone through.

Hard to pick POTM as always but Eilish and Niamh get it. Big shout also to Susie who stepped in as goalie and was super. Thanks to all the parents who travelled. We had super support from the stands.

Under-10s: The under-10 girls took part in a charity blitz in Naas in aid of Barretstown on June 2 along with 32 other teams from around Leinster. Apart from their efforts on the pitch the girls put in a huge effort raising money with €1,023 raised by the Blesso girls.

Under-8s: Another successful blitz for our under-8 girls who played three brilliant matches in Laragh on Saturday. Well done. Their confidence is growing with every game. Teamwork at its best. Proud coaches! Go Blesso!

Under-13 boys: On Tuesday, June 4, we had our Division 3 game against Michael Dwyers called off due to pitches been closed at home and no away venue available either to play.

Division 1 game was also to be at home but we played away in Donard due to home pitches closed.

15 players travelled and worked hard throughout game particularly tackling when not in possession. We missed a few great scoring opportunities in first half and in fairness St Nick’s converted theirs. Second half we played much better and put away some great scores. We came up short losing 3-7 to 2-5 but valiant effort by all players on a bad weather night on a wet pitch. Well done lads.

Under-10 boys: The under-10s continued their great form with a big win away to Eadestown on Saturday last.

The lads played very well throughout with a special mention for their passing and decision making and the usual high work rate and tackling they produced again.

Each player was excellent on the day but two who really stood out were James Mc Carney and Oisin Kelly. The lads look forward to Wednesday night’s under-11 game away to Éire Óg.

Under-7 boys: We played Caragh at home on Saturday in NKL and had a comfortable win. A great team performance by the lads. Thanks to all the parents for their support and to Alan Ellis for doing ref. Under-7s away v Carbury on Saturday, June 15, at 2.30pm.

Celtic Challenge - On June 5 Wicklow Blue ran out convincing . Wicklow Blue 4-20 Kildare 0-04. In Abbotstown Wicklow Gold made it a big double. Wicklow Gold 2-07 Cavan 0-08. Jake O’Kelly and Oisin Brogan are on the Wicklow Blue team. Well done lads.
