Joy for Darragh and Tiarnan
Three Castles rowers enjoy successful Athlone Regatta
THREE CASTLES ROWING CLUB from Blessington travelled to Coosan Point for the Athlone Regatta last Saturday.
Tiarnan McKnight just lost out to Brian Colsh of Sligo Rowing Club by one lenght in the final of the U18 single sculls.
Tiarnan doubled up with Darragh O ‘rien for the U18 double sculls event. They qualified easily from the heats and led from the start to win the final easily with CRCC from Galway coming in second.
In the U16 singles Eoin McLoughlin just lost out in his heat by half a length to qualify for the final.
Eoin came in second in a heat of five with only the winner in each heat to go forward to the final. It was very close for Emily Erwin and Orla O’Loughlin in their heat of the U18 double sculls as they lost out to Belfast Rowing Club in a photo finish for third. Better luck next time for Emily and Orla as only three qualified for the final.
In the U16 single sculls, Orla took the bronze coming in third behind Commercial and Belfast clubs. The club are looking forward to Cork City Regatta next weekend which will be held at the National Rowing Centre at Innscarra.
