As this is a fundraiser for the roof in Davidstown Church your support would be very welcome.

Donard Tractor Run had a very successful day on Sunday, June 9. Over 140 tractors, vintage cars, jeeps and a fire engine took part and raised vital funds for so many local causes.

The beneficiaries of the fund were: Donard/Glen Community Text Alert receives €1,000, Camphill Dunshane, €750, Donard ICA. €500, Donard Walking Club €500, Jack Mulligan Dwarfism Fund, €500, Donard Historical Society €261.

The committee would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to all the people who took part and contributed so generously to the day.

Also many thanks to the helpers, volunteers and contributors who made the day a success and helped in any way to assist the wonderful community gathering for so many good causes. A special thanks to the sponsors who provided support helped in so many ways.

The Eamonn Murray Memorial Charity Walk will take place up Lugnaquilla on Sunday next, June 23, starting from Fenton’s at 2 p.m. Complementary refreshments will be served on return. On Saturday last we travelled to Barndarrig to play the locals in an important Division 2 League game. The sides were level at half time with 1.5 each. The locals gave away a penalty early in the second half when Alan Daly was fouled. He put the penalty away with style. Unfortunately that seemed to spur on the opposition more than our lads. While Liam Monaghan did well at no 14 Liam Mullen was a huge loss and a lot of chances were missed in the second half. The team was; R Halloran, K Osbourne, A Tutty, E Kelly, H Mangan, J Whyte. S Brannigan (0-1), G Finlay, J Hanbidge, N Curran, D O’Neill, C Henly (0-1), A Daly (2-1), D Mann (0-2) L Monaghan (0-2). The subs were B Lennon, L Daly, and G Healy.

Our junior team had no game last week. We were fixed to play Coolkenno in Donard on Thursday, but a very early morning call from the south county side told us they could not field a team. Our lads were very disappointed as we were looking forward to even matters after losing a tough game by a few points in their home game.

There was no lotto winner last week. Bill Keogh, Kay Kelly, Tommy Dwyer, Jim and Garrett, Mick Cullen, Mary Brett and Ann Sully matched three and won €30 each. Amanda Butler won the seller’s prize. The jackpot is now €6,600.

Donard National School will be getting an additional classroom and office in the near future. The tender documents for the school extension have been published. Local contractors can access all information on the eTenders procurement website.
