Barretstown launches the St Kevin’s Way 25k Challenge
CHILDREN’S charity Barretstown will host a brand new fundraiser in Wicklow later this year with the aim of raising €50,000.
The inaugural St Kevin’s Way 25km Challenge will take place on Sunday, October 6, and see walkers follow in the footsteps of St Kevin through the scenic Wicklow hills to the monastic ruins in Glendalough.
Dee Ahearn, CEO of Barretstown, said the charity is excited to be launching a new fundraiser in its 25th anniversary year.
‘Active events like the St Kevin’s Way 25km Challenge are always popular among our supporters; childhood stops for seriously ill children and what better way to help us press play than to get outdoors and have some fun yourself!’ she said.
Registration for the walk is now open online and participants can enter individually or as part of a team of four.
On the day, registration will be held at The Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh before walkers are transported to the starting line in Valleymount. The walk will then finish back at the Brockagh Centre.
The registration fee is €50 for an individual or €175 for a team of four. Once registered, walkers will receive a fundraising pack by post and all those participating in the walk are asked to raise an additional €100 for donation to Barretstown.
