No Groove festival being held this year
ORGANISERS of Groove Festival have announced that they are taking a break for 2019, with dates announced for the 2020 festival.
‘It’s six years since we started Groove Festival and it has grown beyond our expectations,’ they said in a statement. ‘Now it’s time to bring things to the next level. ‘We are spending this year planning these exciting changes. And as a result, we have decided to take a year off so we can put our plans in place and return with our new Groove 2020. That’s going to be on August 1 and 2 next year.’
The festival takes place on the grounds of Killruddery, and has included headline acts such as Imelda May, David Gray, The Stunning, UB40, Paloma Faith, Christy Moore, Kíla and many others.
The family friendly event has also included games and activities for children, food, and on occasion some sun.
Taking a year out is not an unprecedented move for festivals, with Wicklow’s own Knockanstockan took 2017 out, after ten years a-rocking, for some personal time and space for the organisers.
For now, organisers are remaining tightlipped about what changes to expect from the festival next summer.
