Swift Aware­ness Week walk

ARK­LOW peo­ple are be­ing asked to vol­un­teer to help with a sur­vey of the town’s pop­u­la­tion of swifts.

As part of Swift Aware­ness Week, mem­bers of Bird­watch Ire­land will lead a ‘swift walk’ in Ark­low on Wed­nes­day, June 26 at 7.30 p.m. Wick­low County Coun­cil re­cently an­nounced a joint project with Bird­watch Ire­land to sur­vey the swift pop­u­la­tion in the county.

The lo­ca­tions of the town’s main swift colonies have been iden­ti­fied. How­ever, many are in large es­tates and some are dif­fi­cult to sur­vey with­out lo­cal vol­un­teers. The walk starts from the Tesco car park with the chance to ob­serve lo­cally nest­ing swifts. All are wel­come.
