FOUR-DAY FESTIVAL OF RUNNING RETURNS TO AVONDALE
THOSE who love to pound the pavement and let their feet do the talking will be making a beeline for Avondale House later this week, as the historic site plays host to the annual four-day Festival of Running.
Held in aid of the Wicklow Hospice Foundation, the festival takes place from Thursday, June 27, to Sunday, June 30, and offer participants the chance to run one of five distances each day: five, ten, 15 or 20 miles or the full marathon distance. Those taking part can also opt to take part on as many days as they like.
The event takes place on a looped, five-mile course and there will be medals for all the finshers.
The marathon starts at 8 a.m. with all other distances beginning at 9 a.m. However, those who need to be available for school drops, etc, can opt to start at earlier or later time.
It costs €25 to take part on one day, €40 for two days, €70 for three days and €90 for four days, with the same price applying for all distances.
People can register and pay on the day but, to avoid any queues, registration is open now at www.itsplainsailing.com/club/wicklowhospice.
