Great day at Tri
THERE was a great turnout for the 6th annual Blessington Triathlon last Sunday at Blessington Sailing club.
400 athletes representing 40 clubs enjoyed swimming in the depths of Poulaphouca Reservoir, followed by a circuit down to Hollywood and back. The run was tough to finish, with some sharp climbs.
Everyone finished safely and enjoyed the atmosphere at the finish, soaking up the views of the Wicklow Mountains.
The organisers thanked everyone who made the event such a success.
These include: local residents, volunteer marshals from Belpark Triathlon Club and Blessington Sailing Club, Kildare Water Safety, ESB, Order of Malta, An Garda Síochána, Triathlon Ireland, Base2Race, ChiaBia, Fyffes, DB Therapy, Last Lap Café, Smiths Ice Creams, Wicklow Outdoors, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership, TopSpecs.ie and the charity partner Down Syndrome Ireland.
