Fire crews save two houses from se­ri­ous dam­age

A quick in­ter­ven­tion by Ark­low fire crews saved two prop­er­ties in the town from se­ri­ous dam­age over the week­end.

The fire started in a cov­ered walk­way be­hind a prop­erty in the Fern­hill/Ash­grove area on Satur­day.

The flames spread quickly, de­stroy­ing nearby out­build­ings and sheds. Fire crews from Ark­low and Wick­low town were quickly on the scene and brought the blaze un­der con­trol, ex­tin­guish­ing it be­fore the fire had spread to two houses.

While some dam­age was caused to win­dows and win­dow frames of the prop­er­ties, there was no se­ri­ous struc­tural dam­age to ei­ther. The cause of the fire is not yet known. RIGHT: A shed was de­stroyed in a fire in Ark­low on Satur­day
