World pre­mière of new com­po­si­tion at Calary

THE NEXT Mu­sic in Calary con­cert will fea­ture Lynda O’Con­nor on vi­o­lin and Ailbhe Mc­Don­agh on cello.

They will per­form Jean Bap­tiste Breval’s vi­o­lin cello duo no 3 in D ma­jor, Zoltan Ko­daly’s Duo for Vi­o­lin and Cello op.7, Mau­rice Ravel’s Sonata for Vi­o­lin and Cello, Halvorsen’s Pasacaglia and the world pre­mière of a com­po­si­tion by Ailbhe Mc­Don­agh

Lynda O’Con­nor is in much de­mand as a soloist, cham­ber mu­si­cians and leader of free­lance or­ches­tras in Ire­land and abroad. She is one of the lead­ing Irish vi­o­lin­ists of her gen­er­a­tion.

Show­ing early prom­ise, she made her début ap­pear­ance at the Na­tional Con­cert Hall, Dublin when she was just four years old. Lynda has col­lab­o­rated with such won­der­ful artists as Micha Collins, Richard Watkins, Barry Douglas, Chee Yun Kim, An­dreas Diaz, Nobuko Imai, Sharon Shan­non, Frankie Gavin and Dr. Carol Leone.

Ailbhe Mc­Don­agh per­forms through­out Ire­land and in­ter­na­tion­ally as a soloist and cham­ber mu­si­cian. A grad­u­ate of the East­man School of Mu­sic, Rochester, NY, and the Royal Irish Academy of Mu­sic, Dublin, Ire­land where she now teaches Cello and Cham­ber Mu­sic, she stud­ied with world-renowned cel­lists Steven Doane, Nora Gilleese, Ais­ling Drury-Byrne and Wil­liam Butt. Ailbhe gave her de­but recital with cel­e­brated Irish pi­anist John O’Conor at the Na­tional Con­cert Hall in Dublin.

The con­cert takes place on Thurs­day, July 25 at 8 p.m. in Calary Church.
